Board of Directors
The Board of Directors for The Blood Project (TBP) is a governing body responsible for overseeing the organization’s activities and steering the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies. Members, chosen for their outstanding and proven leadership in biomedical and financial sectors, also serve as important ambassadors to promote the mission and importance of TBP.
Directors of Hematology and Humanities Content
Dr. Brian Carney serves as Director of Hematology Content and Strategy at The Blood Project, where he leads the development and oversight of scientific and medical content across both benign and malignant hematology. In this role, he guides the hierarchical organization of disease modules, sets content priorities, recruits expert contributors, and ensures that all materials are current, peer-reviewed, and aligned with the evolving needs of our users.
Dr. Kristin LaFollette serves as Director of Humanities Content and Strategy at The Blood Project, where she leads the development and integration of humanities content across all educational materials. In this role, she curates and creates content that brings humanistic perspectives to the study of blood and medicine, including history, literature, ethics, visual arts, and patient narratives. She oversees content organization, collaborates with contributors across disciplines, and ensures that humanities offerings remain thoughtful, engaging, and aligned with the educational mission of The Blood Project.
Project Manager
Randy Rodriguez serves as Project Manager for The Blood Project, where he oversees day-to-day operations and ensures coordination across content development, partnerships, and strategic initiatives. With a strong background in project execution and team collaboration, Randy plays a central role in aligning TBP’s educational goals with timelines, resources, and stakeholder engagement. His attention to detail and commitment to mission-driven work help keep TBP’s expanding portfolio focused, organized, and forward-moving.
