The patient was diagnosed with congenital idiopathic neutropenia. She did not have a history of serious infections. Thus, beyond instructing her to practice good hygiene, observe for early signs of infection, and seek prompt medical attention in case of fever or symptoms of infection, no treatment was recommended. As we will discuss in About the Condition, G-CSF can be used in these patients but is typically reserved for those with recurrent serious infections.
