Introduction

You are asked to see a 72 year-old woman who presented to the emergency room (ER) with vague symptoms of fatigue and “brain fog” and was found to have an hematocrit (Hct) of 69.3%. The ER is concerned that she may develop a stroke with such a high Hct. They need your input!
