History Taking In TTP

  • Bleeding, especially:
    • Cutnaeous
    • Gastrointestinal
    • Menstrual
  • Fever 
  • Symptoms of end organ damage:
    • Neurological manifestations:
      • Headache
      • Cognitive changes
      • Focal deficit
      • Syncope
      • Seizure
      • Visual changes
    • Gastrointestinal manifestations:
      • Nausea and vomiting
      • Abdominal pain
      • Diarrhea
    • Cardiac manifestations:
      • Chest pain
      • Symptoms of heart failure
  • History/symptoms of underlying conditions associated with secondary TTP:
    • SLE
    • Rheumatoid arthritis
    • HIV infection
    • Pregnancy
  • History of triggers (especially for hereditary TTP):
    • Fever
    • Infection
    • Vaccination
    • Pregnanc
    • Dehydration
  • Use of drugs associated TTP:
    • Ticlopidine
    • Quinine
    • Simvastatin
    • Trimethoprim
    • Pegylated interferon
    • Calcineurin inhibitors
