What are the most common presenting symptoms of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT)?

  • Headache (60-90% of patients); may be:
    • Pulsating
    • Pressing
    • Thunderclap type
    • Unilateral or bilateral
  • Seizures (20-40% of patients)
  • Papilledema (30 to 60% of patients)
  • Altered consciousness (10 to 20% of patients)
  • Focal neurological deficits
