Prevalence of Thrombocytopenia in Cirrhosis

I recently heard a hepatologist proclaim that if a patient does not have thrombocytopenia they do not have cirrhosis. Hmmm. Close but no cigar. 20% of patients with compensated cirrhosis have a normal platelet count.
