Macrocytosis – Prevalence

  • Prevalence of macrocytosis is adults about 3%
  • 41.5 million CBCs/year in US in 2004 (many more today) = 1.25 million people diagnosed with macrocytosis in a given year (an overestimate since it assumes one CBC per person)
  • We need guidance on when/how to act!
