FindingsLarge diversity of findings including increased numbers of small round lymphoid cells (best appreciated at low power), Mature lymphocytes with scant cytoplasm and round or slightly irregular nuclei with condensed chromatin (high power). Lymphocytes may show a spectrum of sizes and variable nuclear irregularity. Smudge cells often seen, which represent disruption of fragile lymphocytes.
