Introduction

A 67 year-old man with a background history of hypertension, chronic kidney disease and morbid obesity developed significant bleeding following a ventral hernia repair, and was found to have prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). You are asked to see him to evaluate for a potential coagulopathy.
